A global consulting firm's Hyderabad office wanted micro-perforated wooden ceiling panels across conference rooms, the boardroom, and common areas. Same panel system throughout, different lighting configurations in each space.

The ceiling profile was not flat. That is the part that most suppliers will not take on.

Micro-perforated panels work by letting sound pass through very small holes in the wood surface and into the absorptive layer behind. The perforation pattern has to be precise - spacing, diameter, and distribution all affect acoustic performance. When you add a curve to that, the challenge is keeping the perforation consistent through the bend. If the wood compresses unevenly or the holes distort, you lose both the acoustic result and the visual finish.

Most manufacturers will not attempt it because the risk of getting it wrong on site is too high. HillPoint manufactures at its facility in Tamil Nadu, which made it possible to prototype the curve first, check the perforation through the bend, adjust the process, and only then go into production for the full order. By the time panels arrived on site, the profile was confirmed.

The installed result shows a warm timber ceiling flowing through the curved profile, with linear LED strips integrated into the surface - running flush within the panel system across conference rooms and the boardroom. The common area has a different lighting arrangement with pendant fixtures against the same panel background. The wood grain and finish are consistent across all spaces despite the different room geometries.

Micro-perf wooden ceilings at this finish level are almost always imported into India. The lead times, the freight costs, and the lack of local adjustment capability are real problems on commercial fit-out timelines. HillPoint makes these domestically.
